I’ve settled on a start date of March 1st, 2021 for this class geared toward 5- and 6-year-olds. It will run weekly on Mondays from 4:00 to 4:35 pm until June 14, 2021. Register by February 15, 2021 to secure your spot!
I wasn’t sure at first about what to expect when turning an in-person kids’ class to an online format when the I realized that the pandemic would take over a whole school year. I’ve discovered that little ones are great at adapting to new forms of communication and learning.
I’m teaching a 4- to 5-year-old class right now and have observed over the months that bonds have formed in the class with “I love you” and “I miss you” transmitted across cities. I’ve also learned that sending and receiving snail mail over the holidays makes connections feel real at a time when we’re so detached and distant from others.
And of course, there’s the music-making: singing, body percussion, note-learning, and so many more ideas that I find myself barely having time for our goodbye song! I’m just as rewardingly tired after an online class with energetic kids as I have been with in-person classes.
